Bullet Rigid Bodies

untitled_ - Autodesk Maya 2020_edited.jp

For our first lesson of the module, we learnt about bullet rigid bodies. Our task was to create a block of jenga and a ball and simulate the ball crashing into the block of jenga. We did this by using a polygon square and elongating it and multiplying it. We then used a bullet solver to create the effect of a crash. Then we created a sphere and animated it to hit the jenga.

NCloth

For week 2, we were introduced to Ncloth. To create a flag we used a plane then added more subdivisions. We also created a pole to attach a flag. We used Ncloth to achieve the look of a flag and then a volume axis field to create dynamics that are applied to the flag to crate a realistic motion of a flag in wind

NParticles

In this lesson we checked out nParticles. There are different forms of Nparticles and here are a few examples.

Assignment 1

For my first assignment, I decided to know some scrabble over with a ball. I first started modelling everything in maya, I tried to replicate a scrabble piece the best I could and then duplicate it so I had multiple and two towers. I then created a ball by using a sphere. I then animated the ball to roll towards the towers. I also used a rigid bullet so the scrabble pieces would interact with the ball and create a destruction. I then textured it by using Arnold standard shaders and importing a image of a patterned carpet.

For the second part of this assignment, I decided to create a pirate Flag to tear apart (I didn't want to destroy any of my clothes). I did this by creating a plane and adding the image of a pirate flag on it. I then used ncloth and dynamic constraints to achieve the tear it apart. I then create a pole and a plane to put the flag and pole on.

Assignment 2

For assignment 2 we had to create 3 scenes, one natural, surreal and one Sci-fi fantasy. For the natural one, I went with a rain scene in a forest. I used the Nparticle rain to create rain and then added some dynamics to it. I also added a forest background.

For the Sci-Fi fantasy scene, I wanted to make a cloud, and do some cool effects with it, but I ended up with this scene which is pretty cool. A room full of clouds, I don't know how it happened but I'm not mad at it at all. It's exactly Sci-Fi and fantasy. This was completely a happy mistake that I could never recreate again sadly.

For the last scene we had to make realistic object with something surreal about it. My inspiration for this was the Goblet of fire from Harry Potter. I did struggle with making the fire look like flames. Instead it just looks like smoke.
